Holiday for Two, a chat between Maggie Robinson and Elyssa Patrick and a GIVEAWAY

I am delighted to share a glimpse of the two authors of Holiday for Two today!

A conversation between two friends and critique partners

Thanks so much for having us today! I’ve known Elyssa Patrick for over seven years now. We are fast online friends, have spoken on the phone and have published a book together, Holiday for Two. I look forward to the day I can give her a great big hug in person. Even though we haven’t met face-to-face, we know a lot about each other. But there are always questions, and here are some answers!

Elyssa: What’s your secret indulgence?

Maggie: Vintage jewelry. I’m completely addicted to the
Ross-Simons website. What’s your prized possession?

Elyssa: A stuffed dog that I bought when I studied abroad in London. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Maggie: I've been to Great Britain so many times, but that would still be my answer. I'm so excited to be spending 4 weeks in a Cotswold cottage next spring! But as far as someplace "new", maybe Tuscany. I could eat and drink my way through the countryside. If you could change where you live, where would you be?

Elyssa: California--somewhere warm that has no snow. I'm not sure about the earthquakes but I hate winter. What's your favorite holiday?

Maggie: And here we wrote winter novellas with lots of snow, LOL. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. One of my daughter's has a birthday around that time, so there's always a cake to go with the pies. What's your idea of a perfect date?

Elyssa: I like the stay in dates where you order in take out, watch a movie or TV show, and is more on the quiet side. Bonus points if there is chocolate and/or cupcakes.

Maggie: Yum. Cupcakes!

Elyssa:  What's a secret dream of yours that you wish could happen? Mine is that I would love to have one of my books become a Hallmark TV movie, LOL.

Maggie: Well, it won’t be secret now! I'd love to make the NYT bestsellers list.

Elyssa: Oh, yes, I'd love to make the NYT and USA Today lists, too.

Maggie: What's the last book that moved you to tears?

Elyssa: Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins moved me to tears in parts of it. It's a great book, and I love it to pieces. What's your favorite part of your novella?

Maggie: I love how my characters pretend to be somewhere they aren't in the middle of a blizzard. The imaginary pub and dog and cottage were so much fun to write. How about yours? I’m partial to the spider scene. ☺

Elyssa: The spider scene is my absolute fave, too. ;) But I do love the whole rom com feel to my novella.

Maggie: What TV show or movie "changed your life?"

Elyssa: Gone With the Wind changed my life. I read the book when I was a teen and fell in love with it and then watched the movie where I became obsessed with it. Scarlett O'Hara, to this day, remains my favorite character. I think it changed me because it had a lot of things I adore: family, friends, love, and a great romance (even though it doesn't end well, boo!). But I just love it. How about you?

Maggie: I love all those black and white romantic comedies from the 30s and 40s. The dialogue was so witty and snappy. It’s what I aim for in my books.

So there you have it.
