Nashville SEAL: Jameson by Sharon Hamilton (Spotlight and GIVEAWAY) ADULT title

Sharon Hamilton
ADULT title

Blurb:
Jameson and Lizzie's story begins with their beautiful wine country wedding, and the journey to becoming a new family with Charlotte. Now a Navy SEAL, an elite member of Kyle Lansdowne's legendary SEAL Team 3, Jameson's final farewell to Nashville and his singing career nearly topple everything with the appearance of an old girlfriend. Lizzie has to weather the long good-bye when Jameson deploys for his first dangerous mission. But there is perhaps greater danger at home for the SEAL families while the men are away.

This story takes place in San Diego and Sonoma County Wine Country, as well as overseas.

Excerpt:

Jameson finished parking the truck. “Stay right there. Don’t move a muscle.” She smiled. “You moved. You’ll pay for that.”

“But Jameson, I can’t help it.”

“And you talked, too. Even worse. Things are going to go very bad for you.” He kissed her, licking her lips with his tongue. “I can taste your juices already, Lizzie. It will be even better if you don’t resist me.”

“You know I can’t.”

“Another strike. Oh boy, are we going to have some fun. Mrs. Daniels, you have a willful attitude, not to mention big dangerous mouth. I expect your full and complete surrender.”

Her pulse surged even higher. Surrender?

“Stay.”

She did so, watching him walking around the front of the truck, and then open the door. She began to step out of the truck, but he stopped her.

“No ma’am. I didn’t tell you to do that.”

She remained seated until his right arm snaked under her knees, while his left came around her back and hooked under her armpit. Without effort, he slung her over his left shoulder, as she squealed.

She could feel him chuckling as he carried her through the reception area, to the wide eyes of several guests and the bow-tied gentleman at the front desk, through the courtyard and up the flight of stairs to their room. She thought perhaps he’d put her down, but he merely pulled the key from his front pocket, opened the door and dumped her on the bed. He held his finger to his lips as he made sure the door behind was locked. He pointed to an opened bottle of champagne icing in a silver bucket and raised his eyebrows.

She was completely disheveled, her shirt riding high on her midriff, her pants twisted, the inseam pressing achingly against her sex. He was pacing in front of her, back and forth. She was thirsty for the champagne, thirsty for him, thirsty for a night of sex.

“We have some decisions to make, Lizzie.”

For just a moment, she wondered if he was angry with her. “I’m going to ask you questions and you’ll answer me. Quick. Got it?”

“Why quick?”

“Because—that wasn’t my question.” He frowned.

“Yes it was,” she said defiantly. “You asked if I got it. I didn’t get that part. Explain it to me, Jameson.” She followed it up with a smile, and she observed he was having trouble keeping from returning it back to her.

“Because I want to fuck you senseless right now.”

“What’s wrong with that?”

“Sometimes, sweetheart, you have to stick to the plan. I have another plan, but rest assured it will end in me fucking you senseless.”

“Promise?”

“You’re not allowed to ask the questions unless I tell you to do so.” He grinned again, scratching his chin as he perused her body on the bed. “But make no mistake, I promise.”

She worked to show him how much she wanted him inside her without using her voice or her hands. It was a look that she tried to make burn all the way through him. He inhaled deeply.

“Choices, before I come right here and spoil everything.”

“Okay. I’m ready, Jameson.”

“Bath or shower?”

She angled her head, considering her choice. “Shower.”

“Works for me,” he said as he ran to the bed, picked her up and carried her over the threshold of the bathroom doorway.

Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor (review)

I am pretty chary of giving out 5 star reviews.  My index is whether I get caught up in the story every time I pick it up...even if I am just flipping through for some reason (like trying to write a review, lol).  Those are the ones that I go back and re-read passages because I like them so much...this was one those...and it was serendipity, I saw an excerpt somewhere and was intrigued enough to look for the blurb...even though I had tons of books already in line on the review mountain...

Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor is the delicious first novel in the ‘McKinney Brothers’ series which details the interactions between recently widowed Abby Davis, who is not only six months pregnant, but is also juggling taking care of her four children during their vacation at the beach. SEAL Matt McKinney is torn between the promise he made to his best friend and his growing desire to continue his successful house-flipping enterprise and settle down. His serendipitous encounters with the captivating Davis family only intensifies his dilemma, especially given the conflicting signals he receives from the prickly Abby. His training taught him to never give up, but can he find a path that will allow him to be at peace with all of his decisions?

This impressive contemporary romance features an unlikely heroine who is just as strong in her own right as the hero is. Oddly enough, even though I tend to not like overly self-effacing women, Abby just resonates with me because she doesn’t wallow in the negatives, just keeps pushing on. The adorable children serve as both an emotional addition and a great source of lighthearted interludes in this heart-tugging story. This was an emotional rollercoaster, as I alternated between surreptitiously sniffling and giggling uncontrollably as I read, captivated by the adventures of characters who were so vivid to me that I was actively willing them to let down their walls and admit how vital they were becoming to each other.

I think that I was most enchanted by the contrast of the powerful well-trained and capable SEAL and his ability to communicate on the level of each child, reach them so effortlessly and treat them so tenderly. There is a hilarious scene when a semi-clad doll’s modesty is being protected by her young owner while the hapless SEAL struggles to figure out how to restore the clothing, as well as a deliciously protective interlude involving a kid, chocolate and white pants! This is a story that I will read again and again, just for the sigh-worthy moments, and I anxiously await the explanations for some of the dangling threads that were adeptly woven amongst the adventures so capably described. Fortunately, Matt comes from a large family, and I look forward to learning more about the rest of the siblings!
