Salvaging Love by Sara Ohlin (VBB, excerpt, and GIVEAWAY) GFT ADULT title

by

Sara Ohlin

Animals aren’t the only thing that need rescuing when a sexy veterinarian encounters a hot-headed attorney…

Perfectly content saving animals at her clinic in a charming but run-down neighborhood, veterinarian Ellie Blevins slams into new landlord, Jackson Kincaid, who plans to turn her beloved block of buildings into condos.

Intrigued by Ellie, hot-shot defense attorney Jackson gives her one month to convince him not to put his gentrification plans into progress. Attraction soon sizzles between them, but when Jackson makes his desires known, Ellie’s vulnerable heart doesn’t know what to think.

She wants to trust the sinfully handsome Jackson, just as he wants to gain her trust, but finding their way to love isn’t easy when her traumatic past and his criminal clients could sabotage their relationship for good.

Can the enchanting veterinarian and the brooding attorney fight the demons from the past…and build a new future?

Excerpt

“It’s not a bag of bones. It’s a block of old, historic buildings that need love and care,” she began. But standing there, taking in his polished rich-man strength, it was futile to convince him of anything. “You know what? Deal me the death blow now. I’d like to review the lease I signed before I throw in the towel and start looking for a new space and a new home, because I can tell there’s no way you and I will ever be on the same page.”

“New home?”

“What?” she said.

“You said, ‘a new space and a new home’?” “I live in the apartment above the French Connection Bakery. Mr. and Mrs. Heely have owned it for twenty-five years.” There she was, exhausted-sharing again. And there he stood intense-staring. She closed her eyes at the craziest, weirdest conversation she’d ever had, and realized Chewie was asleep on her chest with his tiny head nuzzled in her neck. Oh, soft love, she thought, if only people were more like dogs, so trusting, kind, and loving.

“One month,” he said.

“One month to be out of—”

“I’ll give you one month to try to convince me.”

“I… What?”

“You spend time with me for the next month. We get to know each other, and you can state your case.”

“Spend time with you?” Is he insane?

“You said you wanted to try to convince me to change my mind.”

“Oh,” she whispered.

Handling the Rancher by Sara Ohlin (VBT, guest post, excerpt, and GIVEAWAY) GFT

I am happy to share a guest post by author Sara Ohlin, who answers my question...

ELF: What would be your dream place to visit and why?

SO: I love to travel! I’m still trying to figure out how to travel (with 2 kids and a husband) and get paid for it. Years ago after I graduated from college I went on a seven-week long backpack trip across Europe with a friend of mine. After three weeks, he got homesick and went home. Not only could I not afford to change my plane ticket to leave with him, I didn’t want to. I still had Ireland to explore! I still had two days in Rome on my way home! I am forever glad I decided to stay. I conquered my fears and traveled by myself, sometimes meeting wonderful people to hang out with, sometimes it was just me, but the experience was amazing.

One country I didn’t get to on that trip was Portugal. I long to visit cities like Porto and Lisbon. I’d take my husband and we’d have a long, lingering vacation mixed in with sight-seeing to see the gorgeous architecture, take the Lisbon trollies up old narrow streets, learn about the gorgeous blue tiles or azulejos.

We’d start our mornings at alfresco cafés with rich, creamy coffee and the pastéis de nata or a savory crepe. Of course We’d visit a museum or two, some historic buildings, but mostly we’d stroll around and eat and drink our way through the cities. We’d people watch and visit the famous food market in Lisbon, Mercado da Ribeira. Eat lunches as the small neighborhood places (tascas) with chilled wine wine. Lazy afternoon naps are a must. Then it’s on to dinner where I can eat local fresh seafood and fish to my heart’s content. And chocolate cake for dessert with local red wine, maybe some port to go with my cake. Mmm, I can practically taste it all now.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog!

GENRE:  Contemporary Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
What’s a sexy rancher to do when an uptight accountant falls into his lap?
Already reeling at having inherited the family farm on his father’s death, photojournalist Cruz Brockman returns home to the Oregon town of Graciella to receive another blow—accountant Miranda Jenks is there to audit the books because the IRS suspect his late father of tax fraud. To their astonishment, sparks fly between the passionate Cruz and the career-focused Miranda upon first meeting, and the heat rises with every encounter.
Threatened with losing everything his family has worked for, Cruz has no choice but to be completely open with the uptight Miranda, something that doesn’t come easily to him, just as focusing on her own needs is foreign to her. She’s buried her own desires all her life, but the longer she spends with the captivating rancher, the more she wants to dive into a passionate affair with him.
An intense, toe-curling physical connection is one thing, but exposing their hearts is another. As Miranda finishes her audit and the clock counts down to her leaving, can the reluctant rancher and the shy accountant conquer their fears and fight for their love?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

Shouldn’t things seem easier between us? He’d apologized. They’d cleared the air on that whatever-it-was that had happened in the library. ‘Kiss’ was too mild a word. He’d practically blown all the fuses in her brain. He’d devoured her. Nothing felt easier. Instead the space seemed to shrink and she felt as though someone had sucked all the oxygen out of the barn. She started walking backwards toward the barn door.

“I should go.”

“I need to get—”

They spoke at the same time. He laughed and let a breath out as he faced her. “Miranda.”

“Yes,” she said, caught in his gaze.

“I’m not sorry for that kiss,” Cruz said, his face serious again as he pinned her with that look of desire. He took a step toward her. “I’m sorry for being rude, for putting you in an awkward position.” He continued walking closer. “But I’m not sorry for that kiss, for feeling what I felt. You confuse me.”

“Bossy accountant not your type?” She tried to joke, but the words came out jagged.

His strides were long. In an instant he’d caught up to her so their bodies were almost touching. “I don’t know what my type is.” His voice deepened. “I haven’t been in one place long enough or spent enough time trying to figure out if I have a type. The only thing I’ve ever been sure of is my work and this land, the farm, the people.”

He tucked a stray hair behind her ear. The intimacy startled her more than his gaze. She felt raw inside with need. She only had to stretch up a little to meet him. Her lips could be on his again. That delicious fire could consume her, which was exactly why she took a large step back and kept going.

Racing Peril by January Blain (VBB, excerpt, and GIVEAWAY) GFT

by
January Bain

Revenge. Greed. Murder. And an insatiable passion...

Silk O’Connor resolves to take justice into her own hands on the steps of an LA courthouse. The scumbag who killed her sister is holding a press conference, set free by a corrupt justice system bought off by his rich father. Inconceivable. There is no way she will just let him walk away.

Jake Marshall is a decorated war hero on leave, filling in for a friend at Sterling Security—and protecting the very man who used his car as a weapon and murdered Silk’s only family. The war has left him with PTSD, fighting to salvage his own sanity, and a sniper is the last thing he needs.

The two clash when Jake finds Silk preparing to mete out her own frontier-style brand of justice from the courthouse roof…and the adrenaline-fueled high-stakes world of sex trafficking it ensnares the pair in tests them to their absolute limit.

And when Silk enters this den of depravity, she knows only one thing for certain, she may never come out alive.

What others are saying about Racing Peril:

From the editor, Rebecca Fairfax: “I love the unique ‘Januaryness’ January Bain brings to her writing. It’s a blend of her immense imagination, her fully rounded characters, her well-researched stories, the fast pace she tells them at and it’s all wrapped up in her love for what she does and sprinkled right through with her Canadianism. You can’t go wrong with one of her books, whether it’s the fun, sexy romps of her Brass Ringers series or the high-octane blast of this romantic suspense series. Just read Racing Peril and you’ll be rushing for book two, Racing the Tide!”

Dear Reader,

January Bain is an extraordinary author who has great talent in capturing the story and creating memorable characters. Romantic suspense is not easy to write. You must create characters who are vibrant and electric, make sure neither the romance nor the suspense overshadow each other, and craft a story that keeps the reader on edge from beginning to end. January Bain has done just that with RACING PERIL. It is one of my personal favorites and I know it will be one of yours, too. Thank you, January, for writing such an excellent story. This is a real treat for readers. I hope there are more like this to follow. -

Excerpt:

“What the hell do you think you’re doing? Get off me!” she screamed in instant pain. Both mental and physical. She had failed. The worst possible outcome.

“Is anything broken?” a strong male voice asked, the low timbre of the tone vibrating through her.

“Who the fuck cares!” she screamed, attempting to push him off along with the rifle she still clutched. He pulled it from her hands, checking that the safety was reengaged, and laying it aside.

Instead of letting her up, he rolled her over and straddled her hips. He grasped her hands as she flailed about, striking out at him, wanting to cause him pain. Tears began rolling down her cheeks. A sob escaped from her chest, loud, as all the terrible anguish that had built up since the accident broke free, a tidal wave of emotion born of pain and loss.

He held her steady as the tsunami flooded through her, a force far beyond her control in charge. Unavoidable. Unstoppable. It pushed her heart to release its crushing burden. The pain of the accident. Images of her sister in her coffin at the funeral. The pitifully small number of mourners to say goodbye to a young life cut so tragically short. The first clod of earth hitting the top of her casket—all the heart-bruising moments locked in her brain of the past few weeks, fucking her up. Then the images came from further back. Happier memories of her and Ashley in simpler times. Watching a movie together. Playing a favorite video game. Cooking up a feast to celebrate one of their birthdays. And her sister’s favorite—shoe shopping. All the record of her sister she would have to last a lifetime.

Her loud sobs eventually turned into soft hiccups. A catharsis born of the trauma and guilt she could no longer escape left her fighting exhaustion, yet strangely eased, some of the overwhelming tension that had driven her for weeks gone. Her other senses rushed in to fill the void. She became aware. Too aware.

Written Together by Wendi Zwaduk (VBB, excerpt, and GIVEAWAY) GFT ADULT title

by
Wendi Zwaduk
is an ADULT title

What if the woman he needs is the one he thought was out of his league?

Adam Pallas knows what he wants out of life—to teach history, to be happy and to have a hot woman by his side. He’s got one out of the three. He should be happy, but he’s not. There’s one woman who grabs his attention every time. The catch? She’s very much out of his league. Can being himself actually snag him the woman of his dreams?

Melissa Murphy isn’t looking for love, but every time she sees Adam her plans go sideways. The English teacher knows there’s a confident, hot man hiding behind the slightly nerdy history buff façade. But her past and the things she wants between the sheets tend to scare men off. She believes the odds may be stacked against them. Could it be their lives are perfectly written together after all?

Excerpt:

©Copyright Wendi Zwaduk 2018

She gripped the papers tight. Dear God. What if Adam found out from someone else before she could tell him the whole truth? Would he bolt? They were just friends, but some people were turned off by the idea of role-play and the other things she liked in the bedroom. Adam would probably be one of them. The man seemed so vanilla and wound so tight. And she was drawn to him. Go figure.

She sighed. No wonder she couldn’t make love work in her life.

Adam rounded the corner and waved. His grin widened and the spring entered his step. She snickered. The guy was so silly, but cute. She loved his determination. He’d cherish the woman who secured his heart. The memory of the hug the day before came to mind. She could feel his arms around her again. Warm, inviting and safe. She stopped in her doorway and waited for him to reach her part of the hall.

The jealousy showed up again. She had no ties to Adam other than the hug, but thinking of him with someone else stabbed deep in her gut. She wasn’t the type to chase guys who weren’t interested. What about Adam? Was he interested? Or just looking for friendship?

No, she’d focus on the platonic part of the pairing. God knew she needed more guy friends in her life and fewer dead-end boyfriends for her brothers to torture.

Racing the Tide by January Bain (VBB, excerpt, and GIVEAWAY) GFT

Book one in the TETRAD Group series
 by
January Bain

Cole and Gabby, undercover in Vancouver’s Chinatown, have no time for the attraction developing between them. Not when the race is on to rescue a kidnap victim before time runs out.

My name is Cole McClintock. My new job with the TETRAD Group has me working with a woman that’s gotten me so tied up in unfuckingbelievable knots that I’m a certifiable nut job. I mean, just look at her. The woman is beyond hot with those big doe eyes and luscious curves that makes me want to possess every single inch of her.

One look at Cole McClintock and knew I should stay right the fuck away from him. My name is Gabriella Banks and I’d be the first to admit I’m complicated, but at least my job as a new operative with The TETRAD Group keeps me too busy to dwell on my lack of a sex life. I never thought I’d be admitting this, but my strong-woman exterior hides a craving for something more—something only Cole can provide…

Excerpt

The alleged cheater and his companion disappeared, choosing one of the few intimate booths available. Not too dumb. Harder to catch him at it. But not impossible, of course. At least she wouldn’t have to put up with him hitting on her. And to think he had such an attractive wife and two adorable toddlers waiting at home. Mattie and Connor, four and two. Why, just yesterday she’d played with them as their mother had poured her heart out, Connor crawling up on her lap with his red fire engine and dimpled, chubby cheeks she just had to kiss. The deadbeat in the bar must have promised to be true to Ashley at some time, right? Hell, they’d only been married for five years. But no, here he was breaking his wedding vows as easy as apple pie, well before the supposed seven-year itch. No guy is ever going to get that chance with me. Shut him down first.

“Ladies and gents, it’s line-dancing time! Cozy up and choose your partner.”

The female under scrutiny stood and Gabby did as well. She avoided looking anywhere else, following the young woman to the room marked Cowgirls. Someone had written in black marker under the sign since she’d last been there. It now said Cougars Welcome.

She took out her phone, snapped a photo of the altered sign just for the hell of it, pushed open the bathroom door and began to play a mindless game on her phone as the woman used one of the stalls.

Gabby tapped her toes, waiting for the young woman to emerge. She did, neglected to wash her hands—yuck—and swanned out. Gabby sighed, washed her own hands and dried them under a blast of sizzling air.

She followed the female, making sure to pass the booth, checking out Mr. All-Wrong.
