Excerpt:
Lyra drew his attention by uncrossing her legs and sliding off the barstool. She wobbled slightly before slipping one arm around his shoulders for balance, then self-consciously used her other hand to pull what was left of her gown down to cover her thighs.
He automatically reached out, settling his arm around her waist to steady her.
“Do you want me, Nick?” she asked. Her eyes grew round as she cupped his cheek.
“Without a doubt.”
“Show me how much.”
He rose from the stool to tower above her.
Lyra’s hand slid from his shoulders, trailing down his chest and across his abs, which clenched in reflex. She leaned into him and he bent his head, touching his mouth to hers in a feather-light kiss.
When his lips met hers, though, his brain shut down and his body took over. She tasted like whiskey, of course, but there was another, subtle flavor underlying it that his foggy mind could only describe as woman. The potent combination of her taste and the tempting curves of her body against his made him want to drag her off to his penthouse. Lyra yielded to the pressure of his mouth, opening for him with a low moan that made him feel like he was going to self-combust.
Heat surged through his body as he settled his hands on her hips and shifted to bring her more fully against his body. His erection hardened painfully when she made a small noise in the back of her throat and ground her belly against his groin. He was dimly aware of someone clearing their throat behind him. He ignored it in favor of dipping his tongue between her sweet lips.
The sound came again, this time more insistently. “Sir. Excuse me, sir….”
Nicolas broke the kiss. He raised his head and traced her lips with his thumb while staring into Lyra’s eyes, pleased that their sapphire color had darkened to cobalt. Her skin was flushed and dewy as she looked at him from beneath lowered eyelashes. She looked so tempting he could have ravished her right there on the bar without thinking twice about it. Damn it, he was going to have kill the person who’d interrupted them.
Author Bio: Robin Michaela has been reading romances since her teen years, when she first snuck her aunt’s copy of The Flame and the Flower, by Kathleen Woodiwiss. She’s married to her own Handsome Prince (a military airman) and has lived everywhere from the sunny shores of Florida to the wild crags of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She currently resides in the Deep South.
