Phoenix Rising

Phoenix Rising
by Corrina Lawson is the beginning of her exciting 'Phoenix Institute' series that introduces beings with extraordinary powers.  Somewhat reminiscent of a comic book series, the heroes and the villains are larger than life and megalomaniacs seem determined to rule the world.  Thus far, I have read Phoenix Rising and Luminous (see previous post at this link) by this author and have found each work to be a very fun read.  There are some stereotypical elements and most of the secondary characters lack depth but much is implied and tantalizing clues are provided to encourage one to follow the series and learn more about them.  This was a breathless roller coaster ride that had its poignant moments while being jam-packed with action and adventure and as long as one is prepared to suspend disbelief while being entertained, one is in for a very enjoyable read about some very talented beings.   My Goodreads review is at this link and the title itself should be available soon on Amazon with the sequel (Phoenix Legacy) to follow about a month after that.

Copies of these titles were provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

  1. They're great reads, lots of action and amazing abilities being demonstrated and the author is great at vivid imagery so I have no trouble imagining things...and there is a great scene that is reminiscent of a Superman/Lois Lane encounter.
